Getting started

Klip installs from the Mac App Store and lives quietly in your menu bar. Three steps and you're running.

Install & launch

Download Klip from the Mac App Store. Once launched, it lives in your menu bar — there's no Dock icon and no window to manage.

Open the Quick Bar with ⌘⇧V

Press V anywhere to summon your clipboard history. You can also click the menu-bar icon at any time.

Copy, search, paste

Everything you copy is saved automatically. In the Quick Bar, type to search, use to navigate, and press to paste the selected clip.

Frequently asked questions

The short answers to the things people ask most.

Press ⌘⇧V, or click the Klip icon in your menu bar. If ⌘⇧V doesn't respond, another app — for example Paste — may have already claimed that shortcut. You can resolve it by quitting the other app or changing its hotkey.
Entirely on your Mac, locally. There is no cloud, no account, and no network connection. Your clipboard history never leaves your device.
Password managers are skipped, so credentials you copy never enter your history. Klip is also hidden from screen recording and screen sharing, and it never transmits clipboard data anywhere.
Unlimited clipboard history, unlimited pinned clips, and auto-purge rules (30 days, 90 days, or 1 year). Klip Pro is a one-time €4.99 purchase — there is no subscription.
Click the Klip menu-bar icon and choose Restore Purchase. Your Pro unlock is tied to your Apple Account and will be restored on any Mac you sign in with.
Click the menu-bar icon and choose Quit to close Klip. To hide the icon, turn off Show in menu bar in Settings — ⌘⇧V still works even when the icon is hidden.
Klip requires macOS 14 or later and runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Privacy policy

The whole policy, in plain language. It matches Klip's App Privacy declaration: Data Not Collected.

Klip is built privacy-first. It does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data — none. There is nothing to opt out of, because there is nothing being gathered in the first place.

What stays on your Mac

  • All clipboard data is stored locally on your Mac in a SwiftData store. It never leaves your device.
  • There is no network connection, no analytics, no third-party SDKs, no accounts, and no CloudKit.
  • Klip is sandboxed. The only declared API use is UserDefaults, which stores your app preferences.

About syncing

Klip itself has no sync feature and no iCloud entitlement. If clipboard content appears across your Apple devices, that is Apple's Universal Clipboard — an operating-system feature, not Klip. Klip does not sync anything.

Passwords & sensitive content

Password managers are skipped, so credentials you copy never enter your history. Klip is also hidden from screen recording and screen sharing.
